Description
Photograph of the interior of the Douglas Company's Santa Monica Plant, showing wing sections for bombers, ca.1940. Several men gather around a line of plane wings, with one man sticking his head into a hole (for bombing purposes?) in the first wing. Each wing is set atop a platform made of wood and metal, and a man crouches by a device on the floor propped against one of these, at left. A path lined with stripes of paint appears at right, and the lights from lamps shine overhead. Photoprint reads: "Wing sections for swift and formidable attack-bombers moving down production lines of the Douglas Company's huge Santa Monica plant".
