4 images. Gail Russel (Auto crashes into restaurant -- Beverly Boulevard and Croft Avenue), 4 July 1957. Gail Russel Officer C.H. Specht Officer H.A. Wharmby Car in broken window Arlie Bahr (nurse) Robert Reynolds (porter injured) Jerry Reichman - 23 years (student aided Miss Russell).. Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Wesselmann. Date: 1957-07-04. Reporter: Decker. Assignment: Gail Russel arrested - flunks drunk test, cries. 7: When police Sgt. C.H. Specht requested actress Gail Russell to extend her arms in a balance test for drunkenness, she declined. Said, "I'd rather dance!" But, she extended her arms as requested and came up with a disappointed expression as she realized she couldn't balance. Then, when Sgt. Specht asked her to put her finger on her nose, she put her finger on his nose and said "You're cute." 2: Policeman H.A. Wharmby started with her to a police car and Gail broke down and cried. 16: Gail sits in the police car on way to jail and listens to Policeman G.L. Williams report their position by radio. 8: Shows Gail Russell's car in Janns Restaurant window on Beverly Blvd. near Croft. 11: Robert Reynolds, porter, was treated at Hollywood Rec. Hosp. for leg injuries. Russell's car hit him as he was cleaning. 1: Jerry Reichman, 23, student passing by, aided Miss Russell and the colored porter."
