A beautiful demonstration of easy removal of cork is this tree near the cannon in Library Park, Monrovia, with W. E. Hearn and Ray Nelson of the Monrovia Park Department. It was 18.5 inches diameter outside bark, 13.7" diameter inside bark, 45' tall. The 8-ft. length of cork removed weighed 107 pounds. Tree is irrigated on lawn. 1942. Metcalf
