Photograph caption dated May 9, 1957 reads, "Explorer advisor Max Mahon points out destination to Julie Milton and Pat Nelson, kneeling, of Girl Scout Sky Roamer Squadron 1179, and Larry Munier of Explorer Squadron Three. Both groups, ages ranging between 14 and 16, participate in co-ed ground school activities." Flight instruction for the co-ed Boy and Girl Scouts group was offered at the San Fernando Airport.
