Marion Davies with football star Harold "Red" Grange, who turned pro at a time when the NFL was not very popular. Grange helped to change that: playing for the Chicago Bears, he produced record crowds--including sold-out games in L.A.--and gave the burgeoning league its first gate attraction. Photograph dated January 19, 1926.
