Originally named Boulder Dam, it was renamed Hoover Dam in 1946. Shown here is a map of Nevada, Utah, Arizona and parts of California, Mexico, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho. ISt shows the government's proposed storage sites for flood control and power development, and their relationship to the seven states involved.
