Description
This photograph a view of the "Avian Alcove," an outdoor "living diorama" exhibition in the gardens of the original Hollywood location at 5553 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California, 90028 and was a collaboration between sisters Sara Velas and Karen Velas. The "Avian Alcove" was an interactive "living diorama" - a painted backdrop with sculptures of birds staged with real and artificial plants along with an ambient audio playback of bird sounds. The exhibit was originally debuted in September 2002 at an Ice Cream Social event at the Velaslavasay Panorama. Visitors to the Velaslavasay Panorama could have a souvenir polaroid portrait taken in the "Avian Alcove" put in a printed souvenir photo holder.
Velaslavasay Panorama California Revealed is supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
