Description
The Nalikwanda (royal boat)
Comment of the photographer: "Nalikwanda", the royal boat. This boat is meant to carry only chiefs (they are approximately 150) during the ceremony of "Kuomboka". The ceremony takes place once a year, a the beginning of the flood period (the plain is covered by the Zambezi river). The Litunga (Lozi king) leaves Lealui (the Lozi capital) to go and live in Limulunga (winter residence).
