Photograph of a Department of Public Works surveyor's assistant holding an instrument and standing beside an automobile in Los Angeles, 1930. The man is standing at left and holding a tall stick with numbers on it. He is wearing a pinstriped suit and his dark hair is neatly slicked back. The car next to which he is standing is quite tall and has a spare tire on the back. There are several buildings visible at right, and another car can be seen at left. Legible signs include, from left to right: "Auto Loans 6310", "Courtesy of Agency California Laundry AK Tailors", and "Sunset Finance Co. Out of State Ca[rs?] Refinanced".
