Description
Canticum of Magnificats is one of the finest examples of Italian music printing with parts laid out in two-page spreads with large type that makes it possible for several (up to six) choristers to sing together from one copy when it is placed on a lectern. Animuccia and Palestrina created a new style in accordance with the postulates of the Council of Trent. Animuccia took Palestrina's place as "maestro di capella" of St. Peter in Rome, a post he held until his death in 1571.
