A Hollywood Ten writer, Dalton Trumbo, surrenders on charges of contempt of Congress growing out of un-American activities hearings in Washington. Trumbo was the last of the ten to give up voluntarily. Like the others, his bail bond was set at $1,000. He later, in 1948, was sentenced to a year in jail and a fine of $1,000.
