Description: Missionary conference May 17, 1906. The picture shows the Norwegian flag. The roof of the building is thatched with grass. Johan Joergen Broch Smith is looking towards the camera. He was a missionary in Madagascar from 1887-1919. He married Kunda 1863-1892, maiden name Helliesen Bertelsen, in Tananarive, Madagascar in 1889. After her death he married Nikoline (Lina) Johanne 1860-1938, maiden name Eckhoff, in Ambohimasina, Madagascar on December 11, 1894. She was a missionary in Madagascar from 1886-1919.
