Description
J. Robert Lennon discusses his novel, “Mailman.” He begins by introducing his main character Albert, a mailman who feels disconnected from society so he beings to read people’s mail. Lennon talks about Albert’s family tensions throughout the novel and how he inherits cats from his girlfriend who dies. He talks about how Albert wanted to be a mailman temporarily but after leaving the Peace Corp, the job is all he can find. Lennon describes his character’s final breakdown and the consequences of opening other people’s mail. He ends the interview by discussing his new novel about a doll manufacturer.
