Description
Five demonstrators march in a line down the middle of a street during the 1980 march on Sacramento in support of AB-1, proposed legislation banning employment discrimination based on sexual orientation. The two men on the right are Art Agnos and John L. Burton. A larger crowd carrying banners, signs and flags bearing AB-1 support slogans follow closely behind. Written on verso:"Ted Sahl (C) 1980 circa March on Sacramento for A-B-1. " AB-1 passed the California Senate February 16, 1980 by 22-16 vote. Governor Deukmejian vetoed the legislation in 1980, and later in 1984. See Ted Sahl, "Closet to Community," (2000), pp. 93-94.
