Description
Elevated view of tower, walkway over road, bay. 2013-0022. Stone Tower (also called Stone Lodge, the Castle, or Lyford's Tower) built about 1889 by Gustav A. Behrnd for Dr. Benjamin F. Lyford as gateway to his Utopean tract, "Hygeia, or goddess of Health." Stone archway crossed Paradise Drive until removed in 1920's. Example of Richardson Romanesque architecture.
