Description
Photograph of "the enthronement surrounded by cherubs of the islands. Crown of sequin's made by Mrs. Montero. In 1938, Father Mateo Crawley-Boevey, SSCC, gave the annual retreat to all the priests and religious of the islands stressing the enthronment of the Sacred Heart. The Sacred Heart Fathers were the first missioners to Hawaii. This devotion readily caught on." A group of eight smiling children, four girls and four boys, pose for this group portrait in front of a Sacred Heart statue. The girls wear jumpers with "SA" embroidered on the left strap. Two of the boys wear shorts and the other two wear pants. All wear white shirts. Three of the four wear ties.
