Photograph caption dated August 1, 1956 reads, "Circulating water pumps, foeground, are for pumping water through condensers and back to cooling towers at Valley plant. World's largest initial installation of cooling towers is required for cooling steam used in generating electricity. Eight main cooling towers are 70 feet high."
