Left to right: "Frank"- Mr. Lowrey's dog, Mr. Cornelius Lowry- Carpenter- made and sold shakes and shingles, Joe- the Chinese cook, Frank M. Sullivan- teacher of the Spanish Peak School at Meadow Valley, Mrs. Walker Bell of Berry Creek, summer guest of the Hughes, wife of Walker Bell, Edwin E. Phelps- son-in-law of the Hughes' father of Verbenia Hall and Mary Phelps Dunn, "Tweed" the dog, Mary Lizzie (Hughes) Phelps- Mother of Verbenia and Mary E. Thomas Hughes (his wife), Francis Hill- life long friend of family, early day miner with the Hallstead Brothers in Feather River Canyon, Roe Bogliol- ranch hand- in charge of milking the 40 cows owned by Hughes, Will Bell, Verbenia Phelps, Katy Mae Bell, Alonzo Bell, James Mumford- the discover of the mine on "Mumford Hill" later sold to and developed by James A. Edman.
