Description
Schmidt's Meat Market at 537 San Mateo Avenue, c. 1910. The Schmidt family, Henry and Annie, and their five children, moved to San Bruno from San Francisco in 1907 and opened a market on San Mateo Avenue, which was then a dirt road, with living quarters attached. All of the Schmidt children are present in this photograph. From left to right: Frank, Marguerite, Edith, Henry Sr., Henry Jr., and Adolf on the railing. Edith Schmidt became the Queen of the Incorporation Day Parade in 1914 and later married Harry Cook.
