The "Outrigger Room" of the Coral Reef Restaurant at 2795 Fulton Avenue is the subject of this postcard, one of several issued over the years to promote the popular night spot, famous for over 40 years as a family reatuarant with banquet facilities and a "South Seas" atmosphere fostered by the many authentic maritime and island props and decorations spread throughout the seven "enchanting" dining rooms. The restaurant featured a full bar and large cocktail lounge but offered no live music or entertainment, just taped music, exotic drinks made from scratch and appreciative customers who had moved to the area after World War II and eventually passed on, leaving large older family-owned establishments like the Coral Reef without a core clientele and too costly to maintain for the younger generation of the business' founders.
