Description
"15. COTE d'IVOIRE - Plantation de Bonoua." ("IVORY COAST - Plantation of Bonoua.") Two missionary fathers dressed in white along with four indigenous boys sit on the roots of a very large tree in the midst of other trees and vegetation. Postcard issued by "Missions Africaines, 150, Cours Gambetta, Lyon."
The back of the postcard is blank and contains information about the printer: "Phototypie Mee Lescuyer, 16, r. des Remparts-d'Ainay, Lyon." The back also contains information from the mission agency: "L'APPEL DE L'AFRIQUE - La Societe des Missions Africaines, fondee a Lyon en 1856, evangelise tout le littoral du Golfe de guinee: Liberia, Cote d'Ivorie, Cote de l'Or, togo, Dahomey, Nigeria. - ...soit un territoire plus vaste que deux fois la France, avec une population de 25 millions d'ames. - ...Pour aider nos missionnaires dans leur immense tache - ...pour soutenir leurs oeuvres sociales: leproseries, dispensaires...et leurs ecoles (environ 300,000 ecoliers Africains...) - ...pour contribuer a sauver l'Afrique. - Vous pouvez adresser vos offrandes a l'adresse suivante: Missions Africaines Baudonne-TARNOS (Landes) - D'avance MERCI C.C.P. 345.19 Bx."
