Photograph caption dated November 26, 1960 reads, "Shoppers form long line while waiting for doors to open at the new Big A store, 8341 Canoga Ave., Canoga Park, Friday. Huge crowd was estimated to be the largest ever to attend a store opening in the Valley. Cars were lined up for five miles along Canoga avenue and special details of police were needed to direct traffic. Seven minutes after the doors opened the 112,000 square-foot store was filled with bargain seeking shoppers. Sales such as coffee at five cents a pound were among the discounted items that attracted the crowd."
