Description

Shows breeding cages. Label identifies insects as the Cryptogonus orbiculus, a ladybird beetle imported from the Philippines. View 1 (2014-1687). Imported beneficial insects -- view 2 (2014-1688). Breeding beneficial insects -- view 3 (2014-1689). Imported beneficial insects. The Insectary Division of the Commission of Horticulture was responsible for collecting, breeding and disseminating predaceous insects as a means of controlling harmful insects. As part of that work, they collected and disseminated the native species of ladybird (ladybug) beetle or coccinellids, notably Hippodamia convergens.
