Description
This is a photograph of "Lama priests from the famous Lama Temple near the north wall of the Tartar City on Hatamen Street. It is the temple in which you must have seen the immense statue of a buddha which stands sixty feet high and is said to be made from the trunk of a single tree. This is the most important Lama Temple in the city and it is during the official services [e.g. at 4 p.m. daily during the chanting of prayers] that the curious headgear is worn."
