Description
Pictured is the California Pine Box Distributors warehouse as it appeared on Dec. 10, 1938. Located at 1401 Front St., on the eve of the Great Depression, the company was one of four boxers and distributors in the city, which collectively were accountable for more than 400 employees and an annual payroll of $400,000. Worth noting is a small boy sitting on the curb to the far left of the photograph, as well as cobblestones and rail lines in the foreground.
