Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated September 13, 1961 partially reads, "Baby John Doe is doing nicely, thank you. He cries every once in a while but that's normal. He's happy and playful. And that's normal, too. 'He's just a perfectly normal boy,' said officials at Los Angeles County General Hospital where Baby John Doe is staying after he was found Saturday abandoned in Granada Hills. When Mrs. Dorothy Rodman, 19851 Citronia St., Chatsworth, returned to her car after visiting the shopping center at 10158 Balboa Blvd., there was Baby John Doe. Freshly washed, wrapped in a brand new blanket, an hour old. Lying in the front seat of Mrs. Rodman's car. She called police and the six-pound tot was taken to Valley Receiving Hospital, Van Nuys, pronounced in fine shape, and transferred to General Hospital." Nurse Mrs. Ann Crump holds abandoned baby at Los Angeles General Hospital.
