Description
Photograph caption dated March 21, 1962 reads "A North Hollywood man, Pete Madrid, says he found this 10 1/2-pound grandaddy turnip growing in an onion field near Saticoy St. in North Hollywood. He took it to the market of Victor Rodriguez, 7806 Lemp St., where it's now on display. Best explanation for the turnip's presence: it's from a crop planted last year."
