John Elmer "Jack" Carson was born on October 27, 1910. He was one of the most popular character actors in the 1930s, '40s and '50s. He appeared many films, including "Stage Door," "Brining Up Baby," and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." He died on January 2, 1963. Photograph caption dated May 13, 1957 reads "Actor-comedian Jack Carson, in best Sherlock Holmes sleuthing tradition, discovers 'Where the Yellow Went'-- to the Modern Living Festival now in progress at Devonshire Downs, sponsored by the Valley Youth Foundation. KABC-Radio deejay Fred Beck has been conducting Valley youngsters on visits with Valley stars to help the youngsters win a swimming pool. With Carson, currently starring in the U-I motion picture 'The Tattered Dress,' are, left to right, John Alsup, Janet Neal, Sue Tull and Don Nunley, all of North Hollywood High School."
