Photograph caption dated August 15, 1950 reads, "Many of Scoutdoms friends who played a part in the building of the new dam are front row, Harold Ihrig, Mrs. Atkinson, Mrs. Whitsett and a scout in camp; back row, H. A. Van Norman, W. P. Whitsett, Guy F. Atkinson and Ed Harris." The article partially reads, "The recent dedication of the fourteen foot concrete dam at Camp Whitsett marked the opening of one of the top aquatic centers in the United States boasting the only 'A' type swimming and boating pier west of the Mississippi River. On Lake Ida, named for Mrs. W. P. Whitsett, there are now a fleet of four punts which will be used to teach boating and lifesaving skills...The camp is situated near a meadow 5200 feet up in the heart of the Sierras fishing and hiking wonderland."; See images #00136045 through #00136046 for all photos in this series.
