St. Francis Dam in San Francisquito Canyon near Saugus was completed in 1926 and failed in 1928. It was part of the Owens Valley Aqueduct System. This post-failure photograph shows a woman can be seen standing on the ground below some of the huge pieces of the failed dam which were washed down by the 100 foot high wall of water which raced towards Ventura.
