At the base of the oil well sit several low wooden plank structures, utility poles, and three automobiles. A row of four chimneys or smokestacks and a low, cylindrical storage tank sit to the left of the well's base. A cloud of dust or steam hangs at the lower leftmost edge of the image. The foreground is filled by dirt or sand, while low hills of the same material are visible in the distance.
