Description
Probably prepared as illustration for Sierra Studies series. Ideal original unglacialized mtn [mountain] surface Ideal pre-glacial mtn surface glacial curves of work glacial curves of work glacial curves of work glacial curves of work glacial curves of work glacial curves of work Line of main axis range Present Axis of Summit AB Line of successive glacier made summits- gradually driven from geological axis --- CAD present outlines of cross section of summit The present summits are fragments wh [which] have been cut down as above from a height wh heaven only knows Also the present axis of the range coincide with the the present line of summits but lies to the eastward of them because the range runs to the west of north. Consequently the west side of range received more heat & its glaciers were more wasted in summer & kept smaller than those of the more sheltered east side & were not able to do so much denudation work therefore the axis was overridden after being sharpened to a crest & the summits were gradually pushed westward & frozen position.
