Description
Pictured in circa 1955 is the façade of the News Publishing Company at 1213 H Street. The Bauhaus-style building was constructed in 1937 at a cost of 25,000 dollars for the brochure, catalog, mailer and newspaper firm, which was in existence since 1899. The building’s dimensions of 80 feet by 160 feet would accommodate six offices, a composing room, press room, bindery, mail room and several smaller rooms. Its designer was Sacramento-based architect Charles F. Dean. The company, which folded in 1962/63, had been located at 914 Sixth Street since 1906.
