A crowd of White HMong villagers gather outdoors near a mountain in Laos to celebrate the New Year. Two unidentified men are visible to the left of the group. Typed label affixed to the mat board beneath the photograph reads, "New Year, 1964, Sam Thong, Laos. White HMong. People have come from surrounding villages (see the path over the mountain) to celebrate the New Year together."
