Description
Photo of the adobe Casa Miguel Ortiz at 13980 Elizabeth Lake Road, Elizabeth Lake. It stood to the left of an old stage road that came through San Francisquito Canyon north on the way to Fort Tejon. Built in 1865 by Miguel Ortiz, a muleteer for Gen. E.F. Beale, it was still occupied at the time of the photo. An elderly man in work pants and suspenders stands with his dog by the door. On the right, a woman in a chair turns to face the photographer.
