Description
This circa 1975 postcard shows a street tram on K Street, between Eleventh and Twelfth streets. The vehicle -- a rubber-tired, gasoline-powered replica of the area's old-time streetcars -- was part of a group that was placed within the K Street mall area in 1969, running well into the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, with minor impasses in operation because of budget cuts. To the right is the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.
