Description
Photograph of Ninth Street, showing earthquake damage on the sidewalk, San Francisco, 1906. The cobblestone street lies in the foreground with tracks running across its center. The wood-paneled sidewalk has been driven into the ground at center and a light post is broken and leaning where the earthquake caused the ground to surge up. A house on the far right has been knocked off its foundation and leans towards the brick house at center. The stairway in front of the house on the right which once led to its two wooden doors has been bent and broken.
