Description
After the land in Malibu was acquired by Pepperdine College, the first structure to go up was a 100-foot-tall flagpole that flew a 20- by 30-foot American flag during construction. This photo captures key administrators and donors at a flag-raising celebration. From left to right: Chancellor William S. Banowsky, donor Blanche Seaver, President M. Norvel Young, and Richard Seaver, president of the Hydril Company and nephew of Blanche and Frank R. Seaver.
