Photograph caption dated May 17, 1967 reads, ""Judge Noel Cannon with a woman's legal weapons. Derringer (belt), hat pin (left), letter opener (right), scream (throat)."" Additional photograph caption dated May 29, 1967 reads, ""Judge Noel Cannon during may 17 press conference. Fellow judges reported upset by her mod minidress."" Cannon had called a press conference to alert women how to protect themselves after presiding over cases in court relating to violence against women. In 1965, Judge Cannon changed her first name from Nancy to Noel.
