Approximately seven months after both buildings were relocated in March, 1969, they were completely destroyed by fires, believed to have been set by arsonists.; The "Castle," a large Queen Anne revival style residence built around 1882, was originally located at 325 S. Bunker Hill Avenue.; Built in the 1880s and originally located at 339 S. Bunker Hill Avenue, the "Salt Box" was Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #5.
Two former Bunker Hill residences, the "Salt Box," only partially visible (right), and the "Castle," taken after both structures were relocated to Montecito Heights, Los Angeles. Cinder blocks are being used to create new structural foundations.
