Description
Eric Garcia discusses his book, “Cassandra French’s Finishing School for Boys.” He begins by saying how he wanted to write a novel from the point of view of a young woman although he initially had some challenges with getting into character. He describes the plot of the book, introduces the characters, and explains where he got the idea for his novel. Garcia talks about parenting and having a child with an active imagination. He also discusses the schools he has attended, and talks about his Spanish heritage. He tells a story of how he had to buy embarrassing books for his research and how he wanted to satire the chicklet book genre. Martinson ends the interview by asking Garcia to read an excerpt from the novel.
