Description
Photograph of Pebble Beach (or Lover's Cove, the 1st cove east of Avalon) from the south at Stage Road above Lover's Cove, Santa Catalina Island, ca.1905. Sharp switchbacks mark the road which cuts into the side of the slopes as it proceeds toward Avalon. Several boats are in the harbor. Avalon is barely visible beyond the slope on which the incline railway is visible, at the top of which is a small building, and at the bottom of which is a landing on the coast. A large boat is docked at the Avalon pier. Mountain slopes of the island rise in the distance.
