V1p373b In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 373 center. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text written under photo: "Workmen tearing out the cable slots on Market Street 1906." View looks northeast on Market and shows work crews excavating around the old cable structure, while electric cars are using the very track being worked on. The car nearest the camera, a former Omnibus cable car, is en route to the Chutes on Fulton Street via Sutter and 8th Ave. The Ferry Building can be seen in the distance; the Postal Telegraph Company is occupying a tent at the left.
