Photograph article dated March 10, 1961 partially reads, "Today most of us who observe Lent do so by abstaining from something that brings us enjoyment. It would be better if we observed Lent by denying ourselves something we do not need or want. I am speaking of negative thoughts of all kinds and of clearing out our minds to allow only constructive and optimistic thoughts to enter and guide us. Medical doctors recognize the bodily and organic damage resulting from such destructive thoughts as hate, greed, worry and fear." Mr. Parker (pictured), who penned this article, is a Valley salesman and member of the Van Nuys-North Hollywood Church of Religious Science.
