Description
Caption reads, "The Old House, Ekbachen, Mill Valley, Calif." Photo postcard of one of the residences on Tamalpais Avenue in Mill Valley of Valborg "Mama" Gravander and her husband, Axel. The Gravander's came to San Francisco from their native Sweden in the early 1920's and moved to Mill Valley in 1945. Mrs. Gravander was well known in San Francisco and Marin for her weaving and her strong interest in sharing Swedish traditions. Card is addressed to "Mrs. Louis C. Dietze, 255 Grandview Ave., Hamden 14, Conn." and includes the message: "This is one of "Mama" Gravandar's cottages. ... I will not be home in time for guild meeting so you had best make report. Have been having a wonderful summer out of the heat & humidity! Will get in touch with you when I am back. Love to you - Gula." Description provided by Phil Rhodes.
