Image of a broadside advertising the American Package Express of Adams & Co's with a lithographed image captioned "View of the Great Western & New-York Depot, at South Cove, Boston" in the upper part of sheet depicting an eye-level landscape view of a railroad terminal, two trains, and surrounding buildings in Boston, Massachusetts, with two horse-drawn wagons in the foreground including one labeled "Mail."
Single-color lithograph with letterpress text in blue ink. Probable date based on date in item text. "Farwells' Press, 8 & 14 Congress Street, Boston."--text, bottom left. "1844."--text, bottom center. "F.H. Lane del."--text, bottom left margin of image. "C. Cook's Lithog. 32 Merchant's Exchg. Boston."--text, bottom right margin of image. "The Subscribers would inform the public that they now run Package Cars daily on the Mail Train, under the care of a Conductor, between Boston and New-York, (via. Norwich,) Philadelphia and Baltimore, for the safe and speedy conveyance of valuable Packages, in small cases, or Bundles; also, Specie, Bank Notes, &c. &c. ... Custom House ... Remittances. Adams & Co. will furnish Bills of Exchange on England, Scotland, and Ireland ... Notice to Travellers. Persons travelling between Boston and New-York, will find the Norwich and Worcester Route preferable to any other ... Adams & Co's Express Office,...No. 9 Court Street, Boston. Alvin Adams, Wm. B.
