The coming of spring finds life and hope flowering high among the 100 families on the federal government's small farm homestead project at El Monte, where for six months the residents have worked long and hard to develop their one-acre plots. This is the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Meldau, a place typical of the homesteads on the project where families have set out their own gardens and landscaped their plots. Meldau, a dental mechanic, landscaped this garden in his spare time. Photo date: March 6, 1936.
