This 1945 photograph shows several businesses along J Street, between Fourteenth and Fifteenth Streets. Included - left to right - are Bode and Bode Keys, Gil Culver Photography Studio, Laybourn Cleaners and the Hotel Rene. Bode and Bode was founded by first generation German-American Otto H. Bode. Sadly, he was found in a back room of the business in May of 1935, the apparent victim of a heart attack at the age of 39.
