Description
Electrolytic detector (tikker) for use with amateur wireless/radio, 1911. Wireless operators used detectors to convert radio waves to audiable tones. The electrolytic variety, which housed a small pool of electrolytes (40% sulphuric acid), was very sensitive but complicated to operate and susceptible to movement, making it difficult to use on shipboard.
