Description
A fair-haired young woman dressed in the maroon and white of the University of Chicago. She leans against a Renaissance-revival fountain pedestal and is surrounded by trees and pastel-colored flowers. University of Chicago buildings are in the distance and the bottom of the plate reads: "Chicago." She wears a long maroon velvet dress. The yoke is of white dots above a low scoop neck trimmed with many maroon bows. The high neck is made of black and maroon ribbons. The bodice is full above the waist in the 'pouter pigeon' silhouette with a bow or flower at the center front of the waist. The long sleeves are narrow but not tight. The skirt is flared and has a double band of piping above the hem.The young woman holds up her skirt revealing white lace petticoats underneath, maroon stockings and black patent leather heeled shoes. To complete the outfit she wears tan gloves and a maroon-feathered hat. The university is identified in the background with the large letters "C" and "H," which form part of the garden design.
